Director / VP of Product Management

The Director/VP of Product Management is responsible for building and managing the product management department. Our product offering is comprised of the hardware and software in the automated stores as well as the software running in the data center for configuration of, management of, and reporting on the store network. This is your opportunity to define our product vision and then lead the company on the march towards it.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Own product roadmap
    Help develop overall product strategy and maintain multi-year roadmap. Facilitate the business case review process to ensure that we invest the appropriate resources in the right initiatives, in the right priority order.
  • Define product releases
    Translate internal/external customer and consumer needs into clearly defined and detailed product requirements which may include wireframes, reporting requirements, “back-end” business process definitions, etc.
  • Drive product releases
    Run point for the development process, coordinating with engineering, business units, operations, project management, and executive management to ensure that releases meet documented requirements and are delivered in a timely manner. Provide direction on QA test cases.
  • Define and drive consumer interaction
    Work with brand partners, the brand development team, and the corporate marketing team to define the consumer interaction model. Run consumer usability labs, field usability testing, and external usability audits as needed.
  • Manage product documentation
    Manage the development of all technical documentation intended for external parties. This may include whitepapers, training manuals, etc., and will require working closely with engineering and operations. Also, work with engineering on patent filings.
Requirements:
  • At least ten years of consumer internet/high technology product management experience involving: development of product roadmaps, product plans, detailed specifications, status reports, and budgets.
  • Experience developing business cases to inform product strategy and the rollout of new products inclusive of target customer and sizing, sales forecasts, and product ROI analysis.
  • Experience managing a team of at least five product managers. Experience managing the user experience function is preferred but not required.
  • Experience in the retail software or services sector is preferred but not required.
  • History of accomplishments and initiative.
  • Clear communication skills, both written and verbal. Excellent ability to concisely summarize complex issues and make clear and compelling recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet or beat assigned targets and deadlines consistently.
  • Proven consistent track record of success with diverse teams including Engineering, Quality Assurance, Finance, Marketing and Business Development.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Highly organized, proactive and detail oriented.
  • BA/BS degree, MBA preferred but not required.
