ZoomSystems Wins the Qualcomm Fifth Annual 3G A-List Award

SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 24, 2007 — Qualcomm Incorporated announces ZoomSystems is the 3G A-List Award winner for innovative use of wireless technology.

ZoomSystems creates self-service stores that sell products from Proactiv Solution and other skincare products, to Apple iPods and other consumer electronics. The stores are often located in underutilized retail space such as mall walkways, airports, and hotels. In some locations the stores make it possible to shop when stores are typically closed; they also make it more cost effective for brands to place their products in more locations. Customers who use ZoomSystems stores can see products in store's glass enclosure, get product details from the touchscreen, and then pay for products using a credit and debit card.

To process credit and debit cards, each store accesses the Internet. The cost of installing phone lines to enable Internet access can range from $1,000 to $5,000 per store. By using Qualcomm wireless modems, ZoomSystems:

  • Saves thousands on installation costs
  • Reduces average installation time by two months
  • Starts generating income earlier
  • Can place stores in temporary locations such as at trade shows and events

"3G has taken the hard work out of placing our locations," says Matt Moses, ZoomSystems VP of Operations. "We know 90% [of locations] will be accessible via cell signal eliminating the need to pull wires. Overall, it saves us significant time and money."
