ZoomSystems "robotic stores" now at Stop & Shop

ZoomSystems network of Self-Service shops reach Stamford, Connecticut

August 24, 2007 - ZoomSystems robotic stores are popping up everywhere.

Residents of New England can experience the latest in retail by visiting their local Stop & Shop, where ZoomSystems has installed two self-service shops: a Proactiv® Solution Skincare shop and a Personal Electronics shop featuring iPods, headphones and other cool gadgets.

Stop & Shop has been known for their innovative approach to shopping. During a routine visit to their stores, customers can grab a fresh cup of Starbucks coffee at the in-store café and rent a movie for $1 from the Redbox machine near the store entrance. ZoomSystems' self-service shops are yet another step in the evolution of shopping — enabling consumers to get more of what they want in just one place.

"Stop & Shop prides itself on our 'one-stop shopping' philosophy, which enables our customers to find a wide range of products at a great value," said Scott Forbes, Stop & Shop's Director of New Ventures. "By working with ZoomSystems, we're pleased to be able to offer our customers even more items that until now you wouldn't expect to see in a grocery store."

"We are excited to bring our easy-to-use self-service shops to Connecticut", says Gower Smith, founder and CEO of ZoomSystems. "Stop & Shop is giving their customers the chance to buy leading brands like Apple, Sony and Proactiv whilst grocery shopping. We're delighted that Stop & Shop shares our vision of a convenient, fun shopping experience."

ZoomSystems' fully-automated self-service shops are currently available at airports, malls and big box retailers such as Macy's. The company has partnered with leading consumer brands to sell their latest products through ZoomSystems' channel and generate incremental revenue with powerful execution of their brand strategy. Shoppers select products through a touch screen, finalize purchases with a credit or debit card and receive products immediately via robotic arm. All of ZoomSystems' shops are networked and centrally monitored, ensuring high reliability and customer service levels.

ZoomSystems shops offer the same direct access that inspired vending, but do so with state-of-the-art technology and presentation. A transaction is complete in three simple steps:

  • Browse — The touch screen delivers an experience similar to online shopping, where customers view product photos and information.
  • Buy — Once the consumer has made their selection, they are instructed to swipe their credit or debit card.
  • Go — The product is retrieved from its position through a robotic arm that carefully delivers it to the consumer. Patented optical technology ensures that the product has been delivered before the customer's credit or debit card is charged. A sales receipt is printed and the transaction is complete. Each sale has 100% Purchase Assurance and the receipt is printed with a toll-free 24-hour Customer Service hotline for immediate help.
